OUR HISTORY
Southeastern Food Bank has been sharing the Gospel and groceries for over 30 years. It all started back in 1989 when our founder Mark Anthony a local business owner, was given a truck load of prepackaged snacks by one of his frequent customers. The man said the snacks were perfectly good to consume, yet were intended to be thrown away just because the buyer decided they didn’t want them for whatever reason. This man said he knew that Mark was a Christian and would know what to do with the food. Mark felt a tug at his heart…He was led to bring this food to a local impoverished community where he could distribute the snacks to the people in need. After experiencing 1st hand, the immense joy of giving… and blessing the hearts of people in need, Mark realized that this was “His Calling,” it was what he was meant to do with his life…
This was the moment where Southeastern Food Bank was birthed. Throughout the past 30 years, miracle after miracle, and blessing after blessing. The Lord has taken this ministry from being a small-time operation using only the family garage and pickup truck, and has grown us into a 10,600 square foot warehouse, where we are fully set up for receiving, storing, sorting, transporting, and redistributing more than 500,000 pounds of food each month back into the community, through over 85 non-profit organizations who we partner with, across the state of Florida.
And if that isn’t amazing enough, the very best feature that Southeastern Food Bank has to offer and makes us so unique to other food organizations are our Gospel and groceries programs. Many of you may not realize this, but not only do we help to conquer food waste and food insecurity across this great state. We also prioritize providing evangelism and Christian counseling for our recipients. We provide evangelistic training to every one of our partner organizations to help them be adequately prepared to minister to those in crisis situations. This means that not only do we provide food for the needy in the community, we are fully committed to being an extension of God’s love through providing eternal connection with the Lord and Savior. And it is with great honor we mention that Southeastern has been used to lead over 12,000 people to Jesus Christ over the past 30 years. Southeastern could never have gotten this far without the help of amazing supporters like you.
And we don’t plan to stop, we have a much greater vision to expand our reach. There is more food going to waste, more hungry families out there, and more souls to save in this lost and dying world. We hope you can come in agreement with our vision, share your thoughts and ideas, your prayers and your continued support for our future mission. There is no greater reward in this life than to know you are truly making a difference by blessing the hearts of people in need.
Thank you so much for visiting our website, we look forward to working together with you to end hunger.
